Florida Retreat

Everglades wildlife, marker and watercolor

Taking a break from the bitter cold Northeast weather, my wife and I headed to Florida for a quick escape. We spent an extended weekend in the Naples area relaxing and had the opportunity to explore the Everglades on an hour long air boat tour into the Mangrove forests. While we didn’t see any alligators in the waters or manatees in the river, I did see the boat tour’s pet 3-year old baby alligator at the dock.

I traveled with my Moleskine watercolor notebook with my homemade watercolor pencil palette and a Niji Waterbrush. More about the palette here. I also brought a small set of gouache paints and some travel brushes for longer studies.
